Jon Collin's guitar playing is a rare thing--it creates a sense of meditative space as Jon unhurriedly pulls sounds and shapes from the instruments, rooms, and circumstances around him. In trio form here with Philip Donnelly and Mike Griffin (Burnt Hills/Sky Furrows), Jon stretches out on electric guitar, assembling a series of eerie drones before the jam opens up into an austere, stark, and occasionally explosive vista. The duo track is a shorter and quieter affair, as slippery e-bowed guitar matches up against gently brushed drums.
Housed in a flat metal box, cover photos are from Jon's Helderberg House show in 2013 and the Low Beat in 2019. Pics by Griff, back cover is a still from a video shot by Wes Nelson. Thanks to Kieran Robbins for the use of the amp that night. $11 postpaid in the US, $23 rest of world. SOLD OUT.

This album makes you feel like a better world is possible and somewhat close at hand. It isn't, clearly, we're stuck in dystopia, but it's so beautiful to dream. Fabio Viola
